Fire at Savar oil processing plant under control

A fire that broke out this afternoon at a lubricant oil processing plant in Hemayetpur area of Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka, has been brought under control.

Four firefighting units from Savar, Ashulia and Mirpur, who have been trying to douse the flames since 2:00pm, brought the flames under control around 4:00pm, our Savar correspondent reports quoting Anwarul Haque, commander (Zone-4) of Fire Service and Civil Defence.

Two firefighters sustained injuries while trying to douse the blaze, the official said.

The origin of the fire could not be known immediately, he added.
