Five of a family burnt to death in Moulvibazar
Five people of a family were burnt to death when a fire broke out at a two-storeyed building in Moulvibazar town this morning.
The fire might have been originated from a gas pipeline leakage at the building’s ground floor that houses a footwear outlet around 10:15am, our correspondent reported quoting Alamgir Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Moulvibazar Police Station.
Later, the fire engulfed the entire building, located on M Saifur Rahman Road, the OC said
The deceased were identified as Subash Roy (65), owner of the footwear outlet; his daughter Priya Roy (19); Subash’s sister-in-law Dipti Roy (48); his brother-in-law’s wife Dipa Roy (35); and Dipa’s daughter Boishakhi Roy (3), said the OC.
Subash along with his family lived on the first floor of the building, Alamgir said.
Fire fighters were able to control the blaze around 12:30pm, after two hours of frantic effort, he said.
