Former teacher with breathing problems dies after being turned away by 2 Ctg hospitals
A 65-year-old former school teacher died with breathing difficulties at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) after being denied treatment by at least two hospitals.
The deceased, Nurul Alam Master, a resident of Bhatiari area of Sitakunda upazila, was also diabetic and had been suffering from respiratory disease for a long time. He did not have any other symptom of Covid-19.
He suddenly fell sick yesterday morning, said the victim's son.
First, he was taken to Bangladesh Ship-breaking Association Hospital in Sitakunda. But doctors said he needed to be admitted at an ICU, which the hospital did not have.
He was then taken to a hospital in Khulshi area. But the hospital authority did not admit him and did not give a reason for doing so, alleged the victim's son.
He was taken to CMCH around 12:30pm where on-duty doctors declared him dead.
