Fresh death threats from ‘Ansarullah’
Banned Islamist outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team allegedly issued death threats to three persons including International Crimes Tribunal's prosecutor Rana Dasgupta this morning.
Ashok Kumar Das, additional public prosecutor at Chittagong Metropolitan Sessions Court, and eminent social scientist and Premier University Vice-Chancellor Anupam Sen were also threatened with death.
Ashok and his family were threatened through a text message sent to his cell phone around 7:34am from an unknown number. It was claimed in the text message that the threats were issued on behalf of Ansarullah Bangla Team.
The text message also mentioned the names of Anupam Sen and Rana Dasgupta to be the next targets of the banned outfit, reports our Chittagong correspondent.
Ashok filed a general diary with Chittagong Kotwali Police Station after receiving the SMS, said Jashim Uddin, officer-in-charge of the station.
The cell phone number from which the text message was sent is being traced and an investigation is underway in this regard, the police official added.
On August 8, eminent sculptor and war heroine Ferdousi Priyabhashini and her son received death threats over phone from an unknown caller. However, none claimed the responsibility.
Earlier in May and June, Ansarullah Bangla Team issued death threats to several eminent personalities, including two ministers.
