Govt disseminates false and baseless info over CHT Accord: Santu Larma
The government is disseminating false and baseless information saying 48 out of 72 clauses of the Chattogram Hill Tracts Peace Accord have been implemented, alleged Santu Larma today on occasion of the 22nd anniversary of signing the treaty.
President of Parbatya Chattogram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS) Santu, formally known as Jyotirindra Bodhipriya Larma, claimed that, of the 72 clauses of the accord, only 24 clauses have been implemented, 14 partially realised, and the remaining 34 has stayed totally unrealised.
Rather government is continuously breaching the unrealised clauses, he alleged.
While addressing a press conference at a hotel in Dhaka, he said, the government did not take any effective measure to implement the CHT accord fully though they are in power for the last 11 years.
On the other hand, the government is conspiring to wipe out the existence of indigenous community and CHT accord, he alleged.
The indigenous communities of CHT are frustrated, disappointed and angry over the present status of the CHT accord, he added.
He said, they will do whatever they need to implement the treaty as they are left with no other alternative.
The problem in the Chittagong Hill Tracts will not be over without proper implementation of the CHT accord, he added.
