HC issues rule over establishing halls for public exams
The High Court today asked the government to explain in four weeks why it should not be ordered to build examination halls at all districts and upazila level headquarters across the country for public and recruitment examinations.
The court sought the explanation through issuing a rule upon the authorities concerned of the government.
The bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader came up with the rule following a writ petition recently filed by Advocate Sarder Zakir Hossain, a Supreme Court lawyer, seeking necessary order in this regard.
Citing the petition, Advocate Zakir told The Daily Star that different public examinations including PEC, JSC, SSC, HSC and Degree tests and recruitment exams are held at the schools and colleges at the district and upazila level, hampering studies of the students.
Even, many students do bad results even fail in the final examination and therefore, separate exam halls need to be established in the districts and upazila level headquarters, he added.
Assistant Attorney General M Saiful Islam represented the state.
