ICT gives May 3 to press charges on 2 ‘war criminals’
The International Crimes Tribunal-1 today told prosecution to press charges against two alleged war criminals of Habiganj and Kishoreganj by May 3.
The three member tribunal led by Justice Anwarul Haque set the date following a petition moved by prosecution seeking more time to press the charges.
Today was the scheduled date to submit charges against Habiganj's Liakat Ali and Kishoreganj's Aminul Islam. Prosecutor Rana Dasgupta had sought 45 days to prepare.
The agency on December 27, said to have found evidence against Liakat Ali, 61, the immediate past president of Awami League's Lakhai upazila unit in Habiganj, and Aminul Islam alias Rajab Ali, 62, of Astogram upazila in Kishoreganj.
According to the agency, Liakat, a Razakar Bahini commander, and Aminul, who organised and led an Al-Badr Bahini, committed the crimes including genocide and murders in association with the Pakistani occupation army.
