Illegal medicines seized in Bogura
Police, during a drive, seized a huge amount of medicines stored illegally inside an apartment in Bogura town this morning.
The law enforcers conducted the drive in a seven-storey building around 11:30am and found more than 100 types of medicines and surgical instruments, our district correspondent reports quoting SM Bodiuzzaman, officer-in-charge of BoguraSadar Police Station.
The medicines were found stored on third, fourth and fifth floors of the building located at Mofij Pagla intersection on Sherpur road in the town, the OC said.
Acting on a tip-off, police detained a drug trader, Mizanur Rahman Robin, from the building last night and based on his information, they seized the medicines, he added.
The detainee used to collect the medicines allocated for different government hospitals and sell those from his shop “Robin Trade International” in the area.
The price of the seized medicines has been estimated at Tk 1 crore, said Sanatan Chakraborty, additional superintendent (Bogra circle) of police.
