India will donate 150 ambulances to Bangladesh on the occasion of the birth centennial of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
"This is a gift from our prime minister. He will make the formal announcement," Indian Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla said while interacting with a delegation of 20 Bangladeshi journalists at Hyderabad House in Delhi today.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs is hosting the media visit.
It is not only the ambulances, but also a system so that injury victims facing trauma can access the ambulance by calling a number immediately, Shringla added.
"This is a people-centric idea to promote more people-to-people contact," the secretary said.
He said Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will give a recorded video message on inauguration of the birth centennial of Bangabandhu on March 17.
Modi was supposed to attend the programme but postponed it due to coronavirus.
