Jamaat’s daylong hartal Monday
Jamaat-e-Islami called countrywide daylong hartal for Monday protesting the execution of their leader and war criminal Muhammad Kamaruzzaman.
The call was made in a press release floated to the media late today after Kamaruzzaman was executed inside Dhaka Central Jail.
The party, which opposed Bangladesh's liberation in 1971, will host a nationwide prayer programme tomorrow for Kamaruzzaman.
The press release was signed by spokesperson M Alam, from Jamaat's media cell.
Earlier, the party called 48-hour countrywide hartal after the apex court rejected Kamaruzzaman's appeal for reviewing his death sentence on April 6.
