Law enforcers today said to have arrested the owner of the Jheelpar structure that caved in two weeks ago and killed a dozen people in Dhaka's Rampura.

Rapid Action Battalion identified the arrestee as Md Moniruzzaman Chowdhury, 38, held from Comilla's Nischintapur area around 5:30am today.

Maj Maksudul Alam, assistant director of Rab's media and legal wing, told The Daily Star of the arrest and said that Mniruzzaman was under primary quizzing.

On April 15, a dozen people, including five women, were killed after the tin-shed structure erected on a marshland and housing around 20 families, collapsed.

In Rampura slum, the dwellers have not woken up even after a recent disaster there. A two-storey tin structure housing around 20 families, collapsed into a marshland on April 15, killing 12 people.

According to locals, Monir built the structure in Hajipara Matir Masjid Jheel where around 120 people used to live.

A press briefing will be held at 1:30pm at Rab-3 office in Dhaka's Tikatuli to disclose further details of the arrest.
