JU computer science teachers resign en masse

The teachers of computer science and engineering department of Jahangirnagar University today submitted a mass resignation protesting a syndicate decision that ordered the environmental science department to move into its building.

Students from the department have been observing an indefinite hunger strike in protest against the Syndicate decision, saying that the building has no more accommodation space.

All fifteen faculty members of the CSE department submitted their resignation letter to the Registrar's office around 3:00pm, Abu Bakar Siddik, registrar of the university, confirmed to The Daily Star.

Ten faculty members of the Geological Science Department prepared a letter to resign en masse over the same issue as the building also houses the department.

But they were unable to hand the letter as office hours were done for the day, reports our correspondent quoting the faculty staff.

Students from of the Geological Science Department joined the protesters of CSE department in the hunger strike.

The syndicate has taken the decision on April 30.
