Jubo League leader hacked to death in Shariatpur
A local Jubo League leader has been hacked to death by miscreants in Naria upazila of Shariatpur.
The deceased was identified as Imran Sardar, 35, son of late Fazal Sardar of Sardarkandi village. He was the joint general secretary of Jubo League's Nashasan Union unit.
Quoting locals, Manjurul Haque Akand, officer-in-charge of Naria Police Station, said Imran was the private car driver of former chairman Delwar Hossain Talukdar of Nashasan Union. He was returning home by an auto-rickshaw after dropping Delwar.
Criminals stopped the auto-rickshaw and attacked him with sharp weapons around 8:30pm last night, leaving him critically injured.
Locals took him to Shariatpur Sadar Hospital but doctors referred him to Dhaka for better treatment. He died on the way at Mawa Ferry Terminal around 1:00am.
Delwar held BNP activists and new Awami League activists responsible for the murder of his employee.
Police are trying to arrest the killers, the OC said.
