Judiciary can be criticised: CJ
The judiciary can be subjected to fair criticism, if and when occasion demands, Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha said today.
"But if the criticism is illegitimate and irresponsible, it may leave to immeasurable harm to the institution of the judiciary," the CJ said while addressing a workshop as chief guest.
It is a matter of satisfaction that the public at large continue to hold our judicial institution in high esteem, despite its shortcomings, SK Sinha said.
"We are aware of the great responsibility bestowed on us," he added.
Bangladesh Supreme Court and UNDP jointly organised the workshop on digitalisation of the country's judiciary at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre.
