Kalsindur school torched
Unidentified criminals torched Kalsindur High School and College, which is famous for female footballers, in Dhobaura upazila of Mymensingh today.
The fire burnt 16 certificates, important documents and 15 medals won by the female footballers in local and national level match, said Ratan Miah, acting principal of the institution.
At least 13 girls from the institution are regular players of different aged-based national teams of Bangladesh, reports our Mymensingh correspondent.
Students found the lock of the school’s office room broken and saw smokes coming out of the office around 7:30am, the acting principal said.
Later, teachers of the educational institution rushed to the spot and doused the blaze, he said.
However, the school went into vacation from May 6, but the school authorities run special coaching for the students who are week in English and Mathematics.
Ujjal Chadra Paal, a teacher of the school, said the miscreants took certificates, including those of two teachers, documents and medals breaking three almirahs and set those on fire.
After vising the spot, Officer-in-Charge of Dhobaura Police Station Ali Ahmed Mollah said they were investigating the matter whether it was a pre-planned.
Dhobaura Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rafiquzzaman also visited the spot.
