Keeping watch on everything: PM
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today told the parliament that she keeps watch on everything and is aware of what’s happening in the capital and the country, despite moving with security protocol.
“We keep watch on what’s happening [in the country],” she said in reply to a query as BNP MP Harunur Rashid urged her to visit different parts of Dhaka city without security protocol to learn in person what the young generation wants and what they are thinking.
Sheikh Hasina said, “Yes, it’s true that I move with security protocol… But it’s inaccurate that I’m not aware of the situation in the city and the country.”
GOVT CONSCIOUS IN DEALING WITH RELIGIOUS ISSUES
In reply to a query from Opposition Chief Whip Moshiur Rahman Ranga (Rangpur-1), the PM told the House that the government always remains conscious when taking legal measures against any activity that hurt religious sentiment and norms.
“…The current Awami League government is determined to uphold the spirit and values of Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity and other religions,” she said in a scripted answer.
Ranga, in his query, asked the Prime Minister whether it was true that Motijheel Ideal School and College banned wearing scarf for girls in the classrooms.
Sheikh Hasina said the Education Ministry in its investigation did not found the authenticity over the allegation of banning scarves in the classrooms.
“The governing body of the institute also didn’t take any decision over the ban on wearing scarves by girls,” she said.
