Land disputes leave two dead in Pabna, Bhola
A BNP man and a youth were killed over land disputes in Pabna and Bhola districts yesterday and the day before.
A local BNP leader was killed and two others were injured in an attack by their rivals over land dispute at Poida village in Pabna Sadar upazila yesterday, reports our correspondent.
The dead is Mirza Md Mokbul Hossain alias Dulal Master, 55, president of Goyeshpur union unit of BNP, and son of Mirza Amzad Hossain of the area.
Police and locals said Dulal Master along with his associates went to dig a canal on a disputed land in the afternoon.
Hearing the news, their rivals rushed to the spot and hit Dulal Master and his men with sharp weapons, leaving him dead on the spot and two others injured.
The injured Arzan member, 60, and Ahmed Ali, 35, were admitted to Pabna Medical College Hospital.
On information, police went to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to the hospital, said Md Ahsanul Haque, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.
The law enforcers are raiding different areas to arrest the attackers, said the OC.
Pabna district unit of BNP condemned the attack and demanded immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of the killers of Dulal Master.
In Bhola, a young man was killed in a clash between two rival groups over a disputed land at Ramganj village in Lalmohan upazila on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Ershad, 25, son of Abdul Majed of the village, reports UNB.
Bazlur Rahman, second officer of Lalmohan Police Station, said there had been a longstanding dispute between Ershad and Rahim of the village over the ownership of the land.
On Saturday, when Rahim and men were trying to build a house on the land around 3:00pm, Ershad prevented them.
At one stage, they beat up Ershad mercilessly, leaving him critically injured.
He succumbed to his injuries on way to a local hospital, said officer-in-charge Aktaruzzaman of Lalmohan Police Station.
None was arrested in connection with the incident as of yesterday.
