Water transport workers on Friday decided to keep passenger vessels on Dhaka-greater Barisal route out of their strike temporarily due to ongoing HSC examinations.
Shah Alam Bhuiyan, president of Bangladesh Water Transport Workers Federation, confirmed about the decision tonight.
Operations of goods carrying vessels will remain suspended, Shah Alam Bhuiyan said.
Bangladesh Water Transport Workers Federation (BWTWF) enforced the strike from April 21 to press home its 15-point demands including a minimum monthly wage of Tk 10,000 for workers and increase in overtime pay, festival bonuses and other benefits.
The government has meanwhile convened a tripartite meeting today with the representatives of vessel owners and workers to end the deadlock.
