Police recovered the body of a woman at Tangail Sadar upazila yesterday, two days after she went missing.

The deceased is Jamela Khatun, 45, wife of Based Ali of Kathua Jugni village.

Local sources said Jamela had been missing after some unidentified people called her out from her house on Saturday night.

Locals informed police after they saw her body floating on a river in Pitchuria Tablapara area.

Police recovered the body and sent it to the Tangail Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, said Golam Mostofa, officer-in-charge of Tangail Model Police Station.

As a scarf was tied around the throat of the body, police suspect that the woman was strangled and her body was dumped in the river, he added.
