Mother, son crushed under train in Bogura

A woman and her son got crushed under a train in Bogura’s Kahalu upazila as the former tried to prevent the latter from dying by suicide.  

The incident happened near Kahalu Railway Station around 2:00pm today, police said.

The deceased were identified as Felani Begum (52) and her son Raju Babu (25).

“Raju tried to throw himself on the railway tracks. Felani tried to stop him and both were crushed under Dhaka-bound Lalmoni Express,” said Kahalu Police Station’s OC Zia Latiful Islam.

“Raju had mental health issues. Reason for his action could not be known immediately. Felani used to sell food on a footpath along the railway tracks,” he said quoting locals. 

Process was on to hand over the bodies to the railway police, the OC added.
