Mother of two raped in Mymensingh

A mother of two was raped by a youth in Nandail upazila of Mymensingh in the early hours of yesterday, police said quoting the victim.

The 28-year-old victim, a divorcee who works as a housemaid, was promised marriage by owner of a tailor shop Shamim Mia, reports our Mymensingh correspondent.

On Monday evening, Shamim called her over mobile phone and asked for a meeting in the night, Officer-in-charge (OC) of Nandail Police Station Monshur Ahammad said quoting the victim.

Upon meeting, he took her to his shop and raped her there, the victim told the police.

Two of his accomplices -- Ripon Mia, 25, and Md Habib, 24, -- also tried to rape her, but they left the place as she started to shout for help, the police official said.

Informed by locals, police rescued the woman then. Later, she lodged a rape case with the police station, he said.

The victim was sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital today for medical test, he said.

Police are trying to arrest the accused, the OC added.
