Noakhali gang-rape: another accused arrested from Cumilla

Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) today arrested another accused in connection with the torture and gang-rape of a woman in Noakhali's Begumganj upazila.

The accused, Samsuddin Sumon (39), was arrested from Cumilla this evening, said Mizanur Rahman Munshi, superintendent of Noakhali PBI.

Sumon is the sixth accused in two cases filed under the Women and Children Repression (Prevention) Act and under the Pornography Control Act over the incident, said Mizanur Rahman Munshi.

He is being interrogated at the Noakhali PBI office, our Noakhali correspondent reports quoting the SP.

With Sumon, eleven people have so far been arrested in the two cases over the incident.

Of the 11, seven accused gave confessional statements before the court at different times, our correspondent added.
