Padma bridge’s 11th span installed
The eleventh span of Bangladesh’s biggest infrastructure project Padma Bridge has been installed, making 1,650 metres of the bridge visible.
The span, 6C, was installed atop pillars 33 and 34 around 9:20am today, our Munshiganj correspondent reports from the spot.
Last reported, the span was being connected to 6D. Now the curve along the mega bridging project is more visible than ever.
The construction work of the long-cherished Padma Bridge started in December, 2015 and the first span was installed on September 30, 2017.
The length of the steel structure double-deck Padma bridge is 6.15 kilometres. The trains will run through the lower deck while the road will be on the upper level of the bridge.
When the construction of the Padma bridge is completed, the capital will be directly connected with 21 southern districts through road and railways.
