Patuakhali gang rape: Victim’s husband comes under attack by accused
A man was seriously injured last night in an attack carried out allegedly by the accused in a case filed by him over the rape of his wife in Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali.
He is undergoing treatment at Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barishal with several fractures on both of his legs, our Patuakhali correspondent reports quoting Md Sohel Ahmed, officer-in-charge (OC) of Mohipur Police Station.
On April 15 this year, around 10 to 12 people including Shah Alom, Shahin, Rabiul, AL Amin, Abdur Rashid, Shakil allegedly raped the woman after tying her husband up with a rope. The following day, the husband filed a case with Mohipur Police Station.
Around 8:30pm yesterday, the accused swooped on him and beat him up with iron rods and sticks when he was having tea in Chaplee Bazar area.
Hearing his screams, locals rushed to the spot, rescued him and sent him to Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital. He suffered fracture on both of his legs, the police official said quoting hospital sources.
He alleged that the accused carried out the attack as police submitted a charge sheet against them in the rape case recently.
After the accused got bail in the case recently, they were putting pressure on him for the withdrawal of the case, he claimed.
