Gaibandha Deputy Commissioner Abdul Matin today claimed that the rice which was seized on suspicion of “plastic rice” is real rice.

The seized rice was examined through cocking and it proved it is real rice and not made with plastic,” the DC said at a press conference at his office this afternoon, reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo.

The rice might be low quality or adulterated, he said calling upon people not to be panicked over the rumour.

Yesterday, law enforcers seized some rice from a shop in Gaibandha town suspecting that the rice was made with plastic.

Later, the rice was sent to the lab of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection for a test, the DC said.
