Road crashes kill 7 in 3 districts
Separate road crashes in Bagerhat, Rajshahi and Dhaka’s outskirts Savar claimed the lives of at least 7 people and injured 12 others this morning.
In Bagerhat, three people were killed after a truck rammed into a human hauler on Khulna-Mongla Highway in Rampal upazila around 7:00am.
Two of the deceased were identified as Shohagh, 35, and Sanjit Mandal, 50, residents of Mongla upazila, our Bagerhat correspondent reports.
Rabiul Islam, officer-in-charge of Katakhali Highway Police, said the Mongla-bound truck hit the human hauler at Malidanga. The haulier driver and its two passengers died on the spot.
Police recovered the bodies and sent them to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
In Rajshahi, three people died and 12 others were injured after a bus turned turtle at Mirganj Bazar in Bagha upazila around 7:00am, reports UNB.
The deceased were identified as Abu Hanif, 28, the bus driver's assistant, Manwara Begum, 42, wife of Mansur Rahman, and Badal Bewa, 65, wife of Piar Uddin of the upazila.
The Rajshahi-bound bus collided head-on with a trolley before it hit a tree and overturned, said Mohsin Ali, officer-in-charge of Bagha Police Station.
In Savar, a readymade garment worker was killed near her factory after a bus ran her over while she was going to her workplace this morning.
Deceased Nurjahan, 24, wife of Enamuk Haque of Polashbari, Gaibandha, was a sewing operator of Al-Muslum garment in Savar's Ulail area, said Nurul Islam, a sub- Inspector of Savar Model Police Station.
The accident took place on Dhaka-Aricha highway's Ulail area around 7:30am, said the SI. Police recovered the body and seized the bus. But the driver managed to flee.
