Schoolgirl rescued 17 days into abduction
Police rescued a schoolgirl from Deuli area in Keshabpur upazila of Jessore district on Friday, 17 days after her abduction.
They also arrested one Jamal Sardar, son of Kedu Sardar of Titabajitpur village in the upazila, for his alleged involvement in the abduction.
Refatul Islam, sub-inspector of Keshabpur Police Station, said a gang of five, allegedly led by one Sabuj, picked up the fifth grader on her way to school in the upazila on November 30.
Later, the victim's father filed a case against five youths in this connection, said Shahidul Islam, officer-in-charge of the PS.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team raided the area on Friday night and rescued the girl from a house, said the OC.
They also arrested Jamal from the spot while his cohorts managed to flee the scene, sensing the presence of the law enforcers.
The victims' father alleged that Sabuj used to tease her daughter on her way to school.
