Sexual harassment: Bagerhat college students continue demo
Protesting sexual harassment incidents on campus, students of Bagerhat Medical Assistant Training School (MATS) are continuing demonstration for the second day today on the campus.
The protesting students came up with an eight-point demand including end of sexual harassment on female students by some staffs of the school.
Yesterday, the protesting students vandalised some furniture at the administrative building, our Bagerhat correspondent reports quoting witnesses.
After the incident, a four-member probe committee was formed to investigate the student's allegations.
However, the students resumed their demo on the campus around 9:00am claiming they will continue their demonstration until their demands are met.
If not, they will start movement for the resignation of the principal, they added.
On the other hand, Dr Md Abdul Rakib, the principal of the school, said action will be taken against the staffs according to the recommendation of the committee, that asked to submit the report within 48 hours.
Their eight-point demand includes end of sexual harassment by MATS staffs and fire the accused staffs, stopping use of staffs in the duties of an invigilator, prohibiting male staffs to enter the female hostel without principal’s permission.
