Three fake DB men arrested

Police arrested three fake members of Detective Branch (DB) of police from Bhuapur upazila of the district yesterday.

The arrestees are Masud Miah, 35, of Bhola, Anwar Hossain, 32, and Mukter Ali, 35, of Nilphamari.

Mosharaf Hossain, officer-in-charge of Bangabandhu Bridge East Police Station, said a gang of four, posing as DB men, picked up Rohiz Uddin, a trader of Bilpalima in Kalihati upazila, on a private car when the victim was returning home after withdrawing money from a local bank in the morning.

Hearing the hue and cry, a police patrol team and local people chased the private car and managed to stop it on Bangabandhu Bridge east link road in Pathailkandi area and detained the three.

Another member of the gang Apel, however, managed to flee the scene, said the OC.

The law enforcers also seized the car, a toy pistol, walki talki, handcuff and two uniforms of DB police from their possession.

During primary interrogation, the arrestees admitted that they have been involved with the crime for long, said the police official.
