Rail service of Dhaka with northern, southern districts resumes
Rail communication of Dhaka with the country’s northern and southern regions resumed this afternoon after four hours of its suspension following derailment of an intercity train in Gazipur.
The train service restored around 2:15pm after the compartment of Rangpur Express was removed from the tracks by a relief train, our Gazipur correspondent reports quoting Subrata Das, a sub-inspector of Joydebpur Railway Police Camp.
Four wheels of a compartment of the Dhaka-bound Rangpur Express veered off the rail tracks in Salna area of Gazipur around 10:00am, halting the rail service of Dhaka with Khulna, Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions, SI Subrata said.
No casualties were reported in the incident, he added.
