Trains bound for north-western dists delayed again

Home-bound people travelling via trains to the northern and north-western regions continued to suffer today as all intercity train on the routes have been delayed by up to five hours.

According to the Train Tracking Monitoring System till 12:30pm today, Chilahati-bound Nilsagar Express was delayed by four and a half hours; Panchagarh-bound Ekata Express by one and a half hours; Rajshahi-bound Dhumketu Express by four hours and 50 minutes; and Rangpur-bound Rangpur Express was yet to reach the station, which was scheduled to leave at 9:00am.

Besides, Rajshahi-bound trains Silk City Express, Banalata Express, and Padma were all running late by one to three and half hours.

Meanwhile, Khulna-bound Sundarban Express was delayed by two hours and 38 minutes while Chitra Express was running late by over one hour.

Lalmonirhat-bound Lalmoni Eid Special, which was scheduled leave at 9:15am, did not leave the station till last reported around 12:45pm. 

Meanwhile, Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan visited the Kamalapur Railway Station this morning to monitor the overall condition.

As long as the double lines are not installed in those routes, the train delays cannot be managed in those regions, he told reporters.

A total of 55 trains, including three Eid special trains, are scheduled to leave Kamalapur Railway Station today.

Earlier yesterday, all intercity trains to the northern and north-western districts have been delayed, causing immense sufferings to the Eid holidaymakers.
