UGC approves Tk 8088.49cr budget

University Grants Commission (UGC) today approved a budget of Tk 8088.49 crore for 2019-20 fiscal year for country's public universities and itself.

UGC approved the budget from a full-commission meeting held at its office in the capital. UGC Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan presided over the meeting, said a press release of the commission on the day.

Of the total, Tk 8237.52 crore would be spent for the 45 public universities while the rest Tk 50.97 crore for UGC.

The commission approved Tk 64.40 crore for research support in 2019-2020 fiscal year. The figure was Tk 62.36 crore in the last fiscal year.

The meeting also approved the revised budget of Tk 4834.63 crore for the universities and Tk 49.03 crore for UGC for 2018-2019 fiscal year.

UGC members Professor Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah, Professor Dil Afroza Begum, Professor Akhtar Hossain, Professor Shah Nowaz Ali, Secretary (In-Charge) of Planning Commission, Abul Kalam Azad and others officials attended the meeting.
