War crimes accused dies at DMCH

A war crimes accused died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital early today due to old age complications.

Emdadul Haque, 78, died around 1:30am at 602 no. ward of the hospital, Prosecutor Rezia Sultana Chaman told The Daily Star.

He was suffering several complications and admitted at the hospital after his arrest.

He was arrested on January 6 over his alleged involvement in crimes against humanity in 1971 in Brahmanbaria.

According to the prosecution, Emdadul was chief of Peace Committee of Chunta Union of the district during the war.
