War crimes proof found against 7 Netrakona ‘Razakars’

The Investigation Agency of the International Crimes Tribunal today said they found evidence of war crimes against seven alleged Razakars of Netrakona.

They accused are: Abdul Majid alias Majid Maulana, 66, Abdul Khaleque Talukder, 67, Kabir Khan, 70, Abdur Rahman, 70, Salam Beg, 68, Nuruddin, 70 and Ahmad Ali, 78.

They were allegedly involved in abduction, torture, looting, arson, rape, murder and mass killings, Abdul Hannan Khan, coordinator of the investigation agency told reporters at the agency's Dhanmondi office today.

They were found involved in seven incidents of crime where eight people were killed, three houses were looted, eight houses were torched and a women was raped, the official said.

Among the seven, Adur Rahman is now in jail while Ahmed Ali died on October 28, last year of chronic bronchitis asthma in DMCH while the rest of the five are on the run, he said.

Sanaul Huq, a co-coordinator of the investigation agency, said that although they found involvement of the seven persons they will recommend the prosecution to press charges against six as one of the seven died during the investigation.

They will hand over the probe report and other documents to the prosecution later today, he said.
