[WATCH] India inaugurates ‘Eid Visa Camp’ for Bangladeshis
India today launched 'Eid Visa Camp', the first of its kind, to ease Bangladeshi national's travel to the country during the Eid holidays.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan inaugurated the camp at the new Chancery Complex of the High Commission of India in Baridhara of the capital.
It is the first event open to the public at the complex, a press release of the Indian High Commission read.
The camp that will remain open from June 4 to 16 except for June 10, was organised by the Indian High Commission.
During the Eid Visa Camp, applicants can submit their tourist visa applications on a walk-in basis without prior appointment date.
Special counters have been set up inside the camp by the Indian Visa Application Center which is run and operated by the State Bank of India to accept visa application forms, according to the release.
The first day of the Eid Visa Camp saw an overwhelming response and will be open to applicants from 8:00am to 2:00pm.
High Commissioner of India Harsh Vardhan Shringla highlighted the fact that this was the first camp of its kind organised by the Indian High Commission to ease travel of Bangladesh nationals to India as consular and Visa services are a high priority of the Indian high commission and the camp is a measure to facilitate travelers, the release read.
State Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Shahriar Alam also graced the event as the honoured guest.
During the inauguration, a lucky draw was carried out and three lucky winners won couple tickets sponsored by Jet Airways.
