Woman’s body found 17 days after she went missing

Body of a woman was found buried under sand in Sonargaon upazila of Narayanganj 17 days after she went missing.

The deceased was identified as Minu Akter, 35, of Munjilkhola area of the upazila.

The woman’s ex-husband Junayed Ahmed, 45, was held in this connection, Lt Col Kazi Shamsher Uddin, commanding officer of Rab-11, told our Narayanganj correspondent.

The body was sent to Narayanganj General Hospital morgue after being recovered from Munjilkhola area this noon, the Rab official said.

The deceased went missing on May 21. After not finding her anywhere, her mother filed a general diary (GD) with Sonargaon Police Station on May 23 and subsequently informed Rab-11, he said.

Later, Rab detained the victim’s ex-husband from Shiddhirganj on June 6 and found the body based on information provided by him during primary interrogation.

During interrogation, Junayed confessed to have killed the woman and hidden her under the sand in the area, the Rab official added.
