A writ petition was filed with the High Court today seeking its directive upon the government to form a judicial inquiry commission to probe into the murder of Feni madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi.

Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Eunus Ali Akond filed the writ petition with the HC also seeking its order on the government to make a special tribunal to deal with Nusrat murder case and to take stern action against the law enforcers for their negligence in duty over the incident.

In the petition, the lawyer also prayed to the HC to direct the authorities concerned of the government to pay adequate compensation for the family members of Nusrat.

Besides, Eunus Ali requested the HC to seek the progresses of the trial proceeding of the cases filed for killing journalist couple Sagar-Runi , Tanwir Muhammad Taqi, Sohagi Jahan Tonu and Mahmuda Khanam Mitu from the authorities concerned.

While talking to The Daily Star, Eunus Ali said the HC may hold hearing of the petition tomorrow.

Citing from the petition, the SC lawyer said the killing of Nusrat took place due to the fault of law enforcers concerned.

“The then officer-in-charge of Sonagazi Model Police Station, Moazzem Hossain, has acted against the victim and therefore, the law enforcer concerned should be punished”, Eunus Ali added.

WHAT HAPPENED TO NUSRAT?

Nusrat, a student of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa, was set ablaze on April 6 allegedly for refusing to withdraw a case filed against the principal for sexually harassing her late last month.

Only a few minutes before the Alim exams on April 6, four unidentified people allegedly took Nusrat to the roof of the three-storey administrative building of the madrasa saying one of her friends was being assaulted there, victim's brother Mahmudul Hasan Noman had told this newspaper earlier.

She lost her battle for life on April 10, five days after she was set afire -- an incident that sparked outrage all over the country.
