Youth beaten dead by mob in Netrakona

A youth was beaten to death by a mob after he was found carrying a child’s severed head in a bag in Netrakona town today.

The child was identified as Sajib Mia, 7, son of Rais Uddin, a resident of Amtoli area of Netrakona Sadar upazila, our Mymensingh correspondent reports.

Quoting locals, Mohammad Fakrujjaman Jewel, additional police super of Netrakona Sadar Circle, told The Daily Star that some locals noticed suspicious movement of one Robin Mia aged around 35 with a bag in Wrishipara around 1:00pm.

At one stage, the locals asked Robin to open the bag but he denied to do so. Then, the angry mob beat him, leaving him dead on the spot, the police official said.

On information, police reached there and recovered the body and the severed head of the child, he added.
