Number of women workers returned from Saudi insignificant: Minister
Expatriate's Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam today said the number of women, who were repressed in Saudi Arab and have returned recently, is insignificant to the overall number of expatriate workers there.
"If the number of worker in abroad is one lakh, some 3000 have returned," he said at a programme at Probashi Kalyan Bhaban in Dhaka.
Later, he claimed, "These women went to Saudi Arab illegally with the help of illicit brokers. After arriving there, they took shelter in asylum centres."
Later they were sent back to Bangladesh, he said at the programme.
At the programme, he inaugurated two short-videos on creating awareness on safe overseas employment.
He said they will take action against the brokers who sent workers illegally in abroad.
These videos will be aired during the World Cup Football 2018.
