Dhaka Cyber Tribunal today took the case filed against former officer-in-charge (OC) of Sonagazi Model Police Station Moazzem Hossain into cognisance and asked the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to submit a report by April 30.

Supreme Court Lawyer Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Suman filed the case against Moazzem with the tribunal on charges of filming Feni madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi’s statement at the police station and circulating the video on social media.

Dhaka Cyber Tribunal Judge Ashsams Joglul Hossain passed the order after hearing the complaint this afternoon.

The judge also instructed an official of the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) equivalent to the rank of deputy inspector general to investigate the case and submit a report by April 30.

On April 10, the OC was withdrawn as Nusrat family's alleged that they were not getting proper cooperation from him.

Nusrat, a student of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa in Sonagazi upazila of Feni, was set ablaze on April 6 allegedly for refusing to withdraw a case filed against the madrasa principal Siraj Ud Doula for sexually harassing her last month.

After fighting for her life for five days, Nusrat died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on April 10.
