Pakistan to host 19th Saarc summit on Nov 8-10
The 19th South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (Saarc) summit will be held in Pakistan on November 8-10.
The Saarc Foreign Ministers’ meeting held in Pokhara, the second largest city of Himalayan country Nepal, on Thursday finalised the date. Pakistan was chosen as the host country beforehand.
Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali attended the meeting.
Meanwhile, the dispute over housing the Saarc Environment and Disaster Management Centre, a new body to look into the environment and disaster related issues in the region, has also been resolved, reports Kathmandu Post.
Earlier, Indian and Pakistan had been laying claims to host the centre.
The centre will be split into two centres, according to the agreement reached in Pokhara, and India will be housing Disaster Management Centre, while Pakistan will be hosting Environment and Energy Centre.
