Photo ID card must for domestic air travel: Caab
Passengers will have to show valid photo identity card while travelling in both domestic and international routes by air, according to a new instruction from the Civil Aviation Authority, Bangladesh (Caab).
The authorities sent letter to all airlines on June 30 instructing them to mandatorily check valid photo ID cards of the passengers before issuing boarding card, said Caab Public Relations Officer AKM Rezaul Karim.
“The new instruction came to effect from July 1 to beef up the security of the airports and airlines,” he added.
The circular stated, “This is for the kind information off all concerned that passengers travelling by air on domestic and/or international route must produce their photo identity card at the check-in counter along with the tickets.”
The photo card may include passport, national ID card or smart card, driving license, ID card issued by any educational or relevant institution, said the letter.
“Check-in counter shall ensure that boarding card will be issued only after confirming the name of the passenger as shown in the photo ID card are same as that shown in the ticket,” it added.
