Primary teacher recruitment tests: results of 14 districts stayed
High Court (HC) has stayed the results of government primary school teacher recruitment tests in 14 districts for six months on charge of violations of the relevant rules.
The court also issued a rule asking the authorities concerned of the government to explain in four weeks why the results of the recruitment tests in the districts should not be declared illegal.
The 14 districts are: Patuakhali, Madaripur, Sirajganj, Naogaon, Chapainawabganj, Habiganj, Mymensingh, Netrakona, Noakhali, Jashore, Satkhira, Tangail, Barguna and Thakurgaon.
The HC bench of Justice Sheikh Hassan Arif and Justice Md Mahmud Hasan Talukder came up with the order and rule following a writ petition that challenged the test results published recently.
A total of 46 candidates who could not qualify the viva voce filed the writ petition yesterday.
In the petition, the candidates said as per section 7 of the primary teacher recruitment rules 2013, 60 percent of such teachers will be appointed from female candidates, 20 percent from “posshya” (dependent) quota and 20 percent from male candidates. But the conditions were not followed, they said.
Advocate Md Asad Uddin appeared for the petitioner while Deputy Attorney General Bipul Bagmar represented the state.
Earlier on January 15, the HC stayed the results of 669 qualified candidates from Nilphamari and Barguna districts in the government primary school teacher recruitment examinations for six months on charges of violation of relevant rules.
