Rail communication of Dhaka with the country's northern and southern region remains suspended as three bogies and the locomotive of a train derailed in Bhuapur upazila of Tangail early today.

The engine and three compartments of Lalmoni Express veered off the tracks near Bangabandhu Bridge at Pathailkandi around 3:00am, our Tangail correspondent reports quoting Mohammad Asabur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Bangabandhu Bridge East Police Station.

The train was going to Lalmonirhat from Dhaka, the OC said.

As a result, several trains including Sirajgang Express, Chitra Express, Sundarban Express, and Ishwardi Local got stuck at different stations in Tangail and Siurajganj, said Abdul Mannan, assistant station master of Bangabandhu Bridge East Railway Station.

Two rescue trains from Dhaka and Mymensingh have already reached the spot and started the salvage operation.

Train communication may resume on the route at noon, he added.

Rail communication of Dhaka with the country's northern and southern region remains suspended as three bogies and the locomotive of a train derailed in Bhuapur upazila of Tangail early today.
