Rajshahi college girl found dead in Natore

The body of a college girl was found hanging from a tree in Naldanga upazila of Natore, a day after she went missing from her Rajshahi house last night.

Deceased Tamanna Akhter Tiya, 17, a resident of Somospara in Putia upazila of Rajshahi, was an HSC first-year student of Shadanpur School and College of the district, our correspondent reports quoting Md Uzzal Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Naldanga Police Station.

On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body of Tamanna found hanging at a mango orchard in Khudrobariahati area in Naldanga around 12noon, the official said.

“The body was found hanging from a mango tree but her legs were found touching the soil,” the OC said, adding that no injury mark was found on her body.

The victim’s father Abdur Rashid claimed that one Shanto, a second-year student of Shadanpur School and College, picked her up from the house.

Police are yet to find the whereabouts of Shanto but efforts are on to nab him, the police official added.

Tamanna’s body was sent to Natore Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
