10th grader raped in Bandarban

A tenth-grader was raped allegedly by a local youth in Lama upazila of Bandarban yesterday.

Police recorded the case around 2:00am on Saturday following repeated request from the victim and her mother, our Bandarban correspondenr reports quoting family.

The victim’s mother filed the case against one Amir Hossain, 25, of Lama’s Noapara area, said Oppela Raju Naha, officer-in-charge of Lama Police Station.

The youth raped the girl when she came out of her house to respond to the nature's call during the early hours on Friday, said the OC quoting the victim.

Helal Uddin, a cousin of the victim, claimed that police delayed in recording the case following an interference of one Md Hossen Badsha, a ward councillor of the area.

“We demand immediate arrest of the rapist,” he said.

Contacted Hossen Badsha said, “We wanted to solve the matter out of court.”

The OC said that they are trying to arrest the alleged rapist.
