Woman held hostage, raped in Bogura
A mentally challenged woman was held hostage in a house in Bogura and raped before she was rescued by villagers last night, family source says.
Residents of Chotto Changuir village in Nandigram upazila of the district broke the lock of the house where the woman was being held for the last two days and rescued her, reports our Bogura correspondent quoting family sources of the victim.
Later, the victim was rushed to a local hospital.
The suspected rapist, Moazzem, has been on the run since last night, the correspondent reports quoting Officer-in-charge of Nandigram Police Station Shawkat Kabir.
The rapist asked the victim to go to his house on Friday night, where he raped her and held her hostage since Friday.
The victim’s family and locals started to look for her when she remained missing since Friday, sources in the family of the victim said.
Locals broke the lock of Moazzem’s house after hearing the victim’s scream for help and rescued her, the official said.
