Bangladesh inks deal with Thailand to import rice

Bangladesh signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Thailand to import up to 10 lakh metric tonnes of rice each year till 2021.

Food Minister Qamrul Islam and Kingdom of Thailand’s Minister of Commerce Mrs Apiradi Tantratorn today signed the MoU at the city’s Hotel Pan Pacific Sonargaon in the afternoon.

The price of the rice will be fixed after a negotiation between the two countries considering the international market price of rice, the minister told journalists in reply to a question.
