Road Transport Act: Mobile court to start operation from tomorrow

Irregularities at BRTA

Bangladesh Road Transport Authority is going to start operation of its mobile court to implement the much-talked about Road Transport Act-2018, as necessary legal complications are over now.

The home ministry today issued a gazette notification incorporating the Road Transport Act-2018 into the schedule of the Mobile Court Act-2009, clearing the way for conducting mobile court operation.

“Our mobile court will start operation from tomorrow,” Kamrul Ahsan, chairman of the BRTA, told The Daily Star this afternoon.

Although the Road Transport Act came into effect from November 1 formally but BRTA mobile courts could not implement the law as the RTA was not incorporated into the schedule of Mobile Court Act.

After the gazette, mobile courts run by district administration will also be able to enforce the Road Transport Act.
