Robbers looted a jewellery shop at Atibazar in the upazila on Wednesday night and took away gold ornaments, weighing 30 tola.

Md Ekhlas Uddin, in-charge of Atibazar police outpost under Keraniganj Model Police Station, said a gang of hoodlums swooped on 'Niloy Jewellers' in the upazila around 8 pm.

Later, the robbers took Makhon, owner of the shop, and its employees at gunpoint and looted the gold ornaments.

Locals caught a robber along with three crude bombs while the gang was fleeing the scene blasting crude bombs.

Later, the detainee - Nasir Uddin, 25, hailing from Barisal - was handed over to police.
